O.S. Akumu
Executive Director
Joseph
Akumu is the founder and
executive director of Guest
House Community Services, Inc.
Prior to founding GHCS in 1994.
Mr. Akumu had worked for several
years with reputable agencies
serving persons with
developmental disabilities in
New York State. He gained his
experience by working his way
up from direct care position to
supervisory and program
management positions. Armed with
substantial knowledge, skills,
experience and having great
concern and compassion for
people with disability and their
families, he felt the urge to
reach out to them by providing
them innovative and personalized
services. He pioneered the
at-home residential habilitation
services in Westchester County.
His creativity, ingenuity,
dedication and dynamic vision
for better services to the
disabled population has led to
the growth of a human service
agency with unique services and
well as developed resources to
deliver ‘on time’ quality
programs and services.
Mr. Akumu earned a bachelors
degree in Management Science and
Economics from Kean University,
New Jersey. He has a Diploma in
Customer Service and Sales
Management from Allstate
National Training School,
Chicago, Illinois. In addition
to his academic qualification,
he has had extensive
professional training in
management and leadership of
non-profit agency. He is adept
in management, program
development, and service
delivery etc skills. Mr. Akumu
has only one priority, “
ensuring that GHCS meet the
needs of consumers and their
families at all cost.”

Boaz
B. Olang
Operations & Quality Assurance Manager
Boaz
B. Olang is the head of Quality
Assurance (QA) and Training
Department. Mr. Olang has
extensive experience working
with developmentally disabled
population since 1986. He has
served in various capacities
ranging from direct care to
senior administrative positions
in various reputable agencies
serving people with
developmental disabilities. He
has also held senior marketing
and management positions in not
for profit and business
organizations in the US and
overseas.
Boaz believes that our consumers
and their parents and those who
give direct care to them come
first and deserve the best of
the agency’s attention. As the
quality assurance officer of the
company, Boaz is very committed
to ensuring that the agency
comply regulations and achieve
QA standards set by OMRDD in
order for the consumers and
their parents receive the
highest possible quality
programs and services. Boaz
first joined GHCS in 1995 as
Business Manager and later
served as Medicaid Service
Coordinator and board member
between 2001-2003. Since coming
back to Guest House in May 2006,
he has effected changes that
have improved the quality of our
service delivery and is
relentlessly pursuing goals and
objectives that will ensure the
consumers have equal opportunity
to improve the quality of their
life and that GHCS remain a
leader in quality service
delivery.
Boaz has a BBA degree from Pace
University, New York and M.S.
degree in Leadership and
Management (Public
Administration) from East
Stroudsburg University of
Pennsylvania. He is currently
working on getting his Ph.D in
Organizational Management and
Leadership, with a focus on
not-for profit organization
management. Boaz has also
completed various New York State
Office of Mental Retardation
&Developmental Disabilities (OMRDD)
courses and is knowledgeable and
experienced in quality
assurance, residential
habilitation, Medicaid Service
Coordination fields etc. He is
occasionally sought after as
speaker, facilitator and
consultant on management,
leadership and consumer care
related issues. |
