Services are available for
both children and adults who have a
developmental disability. An individual is
considered developmentally disabled if they
have a disability that is attributable to
mental retardation, autism, cerebral palsy,
epilepsy and neurological impairment
that originated before age 22, and is
expected to continue indefinitely and
constitutes a substantial handicap to their
ability to function normally in society.

enable disabled individuals to maximize
their potentials while continuing to live at
home or with others in the community

Guest House Community Services prides itself
as the first agency in Westchester County to
provide at home habilitative services. We
have distinguished ourselves as the leader
in this area for over 10 years. We give to
our consumers and their parents the highest
quality personal care and service where they
need it most-at home.
Residential Services Department is well
organized and staffed with highly qualified
and compassionate direct care counselors,
relief counselors and Qualified Mental
Retardation Professionals (QMRP) who are
committed to helping consumers learn skills
and get the supports needed to pursue
personal interest and aspirations.
Specifically, they help consumers in all
areas of ADL (Activities of Daily Living)
such as dressing, bathing, grooming, hygiene
etc. The direct care staff implement
“Habilitation Services Plan” at home to help
consumer achieve valued outcomes.

The service offers primary
caregivers relief from their regular
responsibilities in the case of illness, a
need for vacation, family emergencies, or
for just a day or weekend getaway. This can
be done through our at-home hourly respite. |

This is a community-based
program that is tailored to suit the need of
the consumer and is implemented by a trained
counselor who provide one-on one assistance
outside of the home. This program provides
various opportunities including social,
recreational, learning, and many other
skills necessary for independent living and
community adjustment.

Service Coordination is the
active assistance offered persons as they
navigate the community and various service
systems in pursuit of the necessary and
desired services a nd
supports that will assist them in achieving
or maintaining their personal goals.
Our Service Coordination team members are
qualified, experienced and well trained
professionals. They help consumers explore
what they want and need in life, and then
assist them in getting it. They work in
partnership with the person or family to
develop, implement, and maintain the
person’s Individualized Service Plan (ISP) life plan. They help
consumers take control of their lives
through personal choices of what would make
them happy and fulfilled including: friends,
finance, family work, leisure, work.
